The Cybersecurity Bootcamp from Ironhack runs completely remotely via Zoom. The language of instruction is English, and this applies to all offered dates. In three modules, you go from the basics to responding to real attacks. The instructors themselves come from the tech and security industry.
Before the start, you get around 20 hours of online learning material as prework. It covers computer systems, operating systems, and networks. This way, you start with the same basic knowledge as the rest of the group.
In the first module, you build the foundation. You learn network architecture, routing protocols, and traffic analysis and get an initial overview of the OWASP Top 10. With virtual machines, you practice directly, e.g., OS fingerprinting, encryption, as well as backup and recovery.
The second module combines defense and attack. You work with firewalls, antivirus tools, and intrusion detection systems and learn symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. This is followed by malware analysis, digital forensics, and ethical hacking with reconnaissance, exploitation, and web application hacking.
In the third module, security architecture, secure design principles, and risk management are on the agenda. This is complemented by threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, and the complete incident response cycle. To conclude, you work on a capstone project in a team about a real cybersecurity scenario and present it.
The bootcamp is aimed at beginners; according to Ironhack, you don't need hard prior knowledge. Before acceptance, there is a personal interview and a simple technical test. Through Ironhack+, you can take an exam like CompTIA Security+ or the ISACA Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate for free.
After graduation, the career services support you for twelve months. This includes networking events, tips for your resume and LinkedIn, as well as coaching for job interviews. Ironhack is certified via HZA according to AZAV. According to Ironhack, the Federal Employment Agency can cover the entire course fee.
