Payroll accounting affects many parties at the same time. Each payroll run impacts the employees themselves, their department, the company's accounting, tax authorities, and social insurance carriers. That's why internal staff, payroll offices, and tax consultancy firms often work hand in hand. You must constantly keep an eye on changing tax and social insurance rates and new legislation.
This is exactly where the expert course comes in. It deals with special payroll groups, special wage components, and other specific cases. These include the employment of severely disabled persons, short-time work, telework, and working time accounts. You will also process wage and maintenance garnishments in the course.
Further topics are non-cash benefits, travel expenses, and childcare costs. Care leave and employer loans are also covered. The course concludes with preparation for the external exam.
You can take the course full-time or part-time. Full-time it lasts 4 weeks, part-time 8 weeks. The next full-time start date is September 7, 2026. Participation from home is possible; alternatively, you can choose a location.
The continuing education course is aimed at employees in the payroll office, accounting, or personnel administration and management. Self-employed individuals are also addressed. Prerequisites are basic knowledge of personnel management and fundamental knowledge of financial accounting. These should correspond to a standard current commercial training. You must also be able to use the DATEV Lohn Pro program and master advanced basics of payroll accounting.
After passing the exam, you will receive the DATEV certificate for Payroll and Salary. In addition, you will receive an internal provider certificate or a certificate of participation. IBB runs the course under course number K-2475-6.
The course is also included in several IBB course packages, for example in "Personnel Administration Focus on DATEV Payroll and Salary". You will clarify your individual participation requirements in advance in a personal consultation. According to IBB, this qualification enables you to independently take on responsibility in payroll accounting.
