The Data Science Masterclass Industrie 4.0 continuing education course at IU Akademie focuses on data in production. You learn how to collect data from various sources, clean it, and transform it into meaningful information. IU Akademie sees this as the foundation for new insights and new business models in industry.
Content-wise, you start with advanced mathematics and statistics. Then you deal with Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Modeling in automation technology, the Internet of Things, and manufacturing methods of Industrie 4.0 are added. At the end, there is a project on Data Science for Industrie 4.0.
The process is completely online. You learn with online courses and exchange ideas digitally in the group. You can take exams either online or on site. In full-time, the continuing education course takes 8 months, in part-time 16 months. If you pay yourself, you have 24 months access to the content.
You don't need a specific degree. Good German skills at B2 level and a laptop with internet access are required. IU Akademie recommends the course Programmieren mit Python Grundlagen or equivalent prior knowledge. The continuing education course is suitable for anyone who wants to work in production, logistics, or quality management at industrial companies. Consulting firms and providers of data science solutions also look for these skills.
At the end, you receive a continuing education certificate at university level. IU Akademie classifies the continuing education course at master's level. Completed exams can be credited towards a degree at IU Internationale Hochschule.
I really like the practice exchange format. Twice a week there are 90 minutes via Microsoft Teams, open to everyone and without prior knowledge. There you get tips on jobs and applications and network with other participants. In addition, there are study coaching, an AI learning assistant, access to LinkedIn Learning and the library, as well as an MS Office package.
