The "Supply Chain Management" continuing education course at IU Akademie is a single-module course from the Master's in Supply Chain Management. It consists of four courses and is at Master's level in terms of content. Basic knowledge in the field is therefore an advantage. You work through the content as an online lecture with digital course materials.
The first course covers innovative concepts and instruments in supply chain management. You start with the conceptual basics and then develop a supply chain strategy. This is followed by supply chain design, demand and requirements planning, and supply chain controlling. Finally, you look at instruments for inventory optimization and IT systems in SCM.
The second course focuses on supply chain business models. You deal with supply chain innovations and logistics service providers in the age of digital platforms. The logistics platform Transporeon and the load carrier platform swoplo serve as practical examples. The last mile and ubiquitous computing are also covered.
In the third course, you plan global networks. You learn about the basic structures of logistics networks, factors in site selection, and models for site evaluation. This is followed by optimization models and simulation of networks. As a simulation tool, IU Akademie presents OTD-NET, among others.
The seminar "Current Challenges in Supply Chain Management" forms the conclusion. You classify new solution and management approaches such as agility, decentrality, and circularity. You record your results in a seminar paper. IU Akademie examines the other three courses via two exams of 90 minutes each and a case study.
The course is aimed at job seekers with a Bildungsgutschein (education voucher), at working professionals with state funding through their employer, and at self-payers. You do not need a specific degree. Good German language skills at B2 level and a laptop with internet access are required. You take exams online or on site.
At the end, you receive a continuing education certificate at university level. You can have completed exams credited toward a degree program at IU International University. In addition, there is individual Study Coaching, the AI learning assistant Syntea, and access to LinkedIn Learning, the library, and MS Office. A 90-minute practical exchange takes place twice a week via Microsoft Teams.
