AI Basics, Terms, and How It Works

The free in-person workshop by the Hopp Foundation explains the terms around artificial intelligence. You'll learn what's really behind large language models and neural networks. About this online course

Basic information

This workshop answers the question of whether AI is really intelligent. You discuss common terms and get the ideas behind them explained. The range goes from 'Intelligence' to 'Large Language Models' to 'Neural Networks'.

The practical part works without a computer. You try out for yourself how an AI learns and generates text. The speaker shows teaching materials that you can use directly with your students.

You don't need any prior experience with AI. You should bring your own device, ideally an iPad or a laptop. If that's not possible, the foundation provides loan devices.

The speaker is Hannes Koderisch, a teacher of computer science and mathematics at CBG Ladenburg. For about ten years, he has been explaining computer science-related topics to non-computer scientists.

The workshop takes place in person in Weinheim and is free of charge. For me, this is the best introduction if you want to be able to explain how AI actually works in front of your class.
