Company Data Protection Officer (IHK)

The certificate course "Company Data Protection Officer (IHK)" qualifies you for the role of data protection officer. You shape data protection according to the Federal Data Protection Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation in your company. By the end, you will recognize relevant data protection and IT security issues and implement solutions.

The course consists of five parts totaling 55 hours. Part 1 covers the basics of data protection. Part 2 delves into data protection law with GDPR, BDSG, processing register, and data protection impact assessment. Part 3 focuses on the organization of data protection and data security.

Part 4 addresses IT security and technical-organizational data protection. Topics include basic IT components, authentication methods, encryption principles, cloud computing, and data protection management systems. Part 5 gives you practical tips for starting as a data protection officer.

The course takes place entirely live online. Classes run Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:45 PM. That's 5 lessons per day with a 30-minute break. Individual missed sessions can be caught up via recordings. The provider still recommends live attendance for at least 80 percent of the sessions.

The webinar is designed across industries. It targets employees in small, medium, and large companies. It addresses future and already appointed internal and external data protection officers. Works councils, specialists, managers, and employees from non-profit organizations are also included.

At the end, you take an internal course certificate test online on your own computer. You only need a browser and an internet connection; no separate registration is required. For identification during the test, you need a smartphone. After passing the test, you receive the IHK certificate from a cooperating IHK.

The number of participants is limited to allow questions and discussions. A case study transfers the results to operational practice. As follow-up training, the provider recommends the seminar GDPR Update for Data Protection Officers.
