In the "Technischer Fachwirt IHK" continuing education course, you combine technical knowledge with business expertise. You prepare for tasks at the interface between technology and management. After completion, you manage projects and coordinate production processes. You take on responsibility in areas such as materials and sales management, sales, or department management.
The course is run as a hybrid course. The lessons are streamed live from the classroom. This way, you decide daily whether to attend in person at an IFF location or online. Via Wirtschaftsfernschule®, you can also take the course entirely online. Five course models are available: full-time, part-time evening, part-time Saturday, shift plan, and part-time mix. The full-time course lasts approx. 4 months. The part-time evening or Saturday course runs for 12 to 17 months. For shift workers, there is a shift plan course lasting approx. 9 months. The part-time mix course lasts 6 to 7 months.
The exam is divided into three parts. The first part is called Business-Related Qualifications and covers macro- and microeconomics, accounting, law and taxes, as well as business management. The second part is called Technical Qualifications with scientific and technical fundamentals, technical communication, materials technology, and manufacturing and operations engineering. The third part is called Action-Specific Qualifications. These include sales, materials management and logistics, production planning, control and monitoring, quality and environmental management, occupational safety, as well as leadership and collaboration.
For the first exam part, you need at least a three-year completed vocational training in a commercial, administrative, or industrial-technical field. With a different three-year vocational training, an additional year of professional experience is sufficient. Without relevant training, four years of professional experience are required. You will be admitted to the second exam part if you have already passed the first part.
At the end of the continuing education, you take the IHK exam. You earn the qualification of Geprüfter Technischer Fachwirt or Geprüfte Technische Fachwirtin. The IFF Akademie is certified according to AZAV and DIN ISO 9001:2015 and prepares you specifically for this exam.
The course includes a free loan notebook or tablet, free weekend tutoring, and a five-day exam preparation week. You also receive the international student card ISIC. You can cancel free of charge up to 14 days before the course starts. At the locations in Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Dortmund, the IFF Akademie provides you with accommodation for the duration of the course.
