About this online course

Basic information

As a Project Manager IHK, you learn to manage projects from planning to completion. You deal with project organization, the phases of project management, and structural planning. This also includes resource, cost, and schedule planning as well as digital tools and common project management software.

A large part of the course focuses on leadership and collaboration. You practice team building, communication, conflict management, and meeting management. Your own time management and presentation skills are also on the agenda.

You choose between two formats. In the part-time format, you learn in the evenings or on Saturdays over several weeks. In the full-time format, you complete the course in a few weeks. Both variants are available in person at one of the IHK locations or live online in the virtual classroom.

The continuing education course is aimed at project managers, project team members, and career changers. Self-employed individuals who want to manage their own projects more professionally are also in the right place. Prior knowledge of project management helps but is not a requirement.

At the end, there is a written exam for which you need at least 80 percent attendance. If you pass with at least 50 percent of the points, you receive the IHK certificate and a digital Open Badge. For a processing fee, you can additionally submit the certificate to IAPM and thus obtain an internationally recognized certificate.

I find the case study particularly practical. You work on it in a team outside of class time and present the results at the end with feedback from the group. This way, you directly test whether the theory works in real project everyday life.
