In the online course "UX/UI Design Fundamentals", you will learn to develop digital applications according to modern UI and UX guidelines. The course shows you the interplay between user interface and user experience. You get foundational knowledge, practical examples, and tips from best cases. At the end, you can design a user-friendly interface based on a solid UX strategy.
The course consists of four modules: Visual Design, App Design, Website Design, and User Experience. You go through them flexibly at your own pace. Without any other arrangement, OfG unlocks the next module for you at the beginning of each month. OfG states the time commitment as 8 to 10 hours per week. With a duration of four months, that's about 10 hours per week. There are no in-person sessions; the teaching material is completely available online.
For each module, you submit a practical task. You receive written feedback from a coach from the field. All work from the course you may use for your own portfolio. The instructor for UX/UI Design is Martin Hahn.
The course is aimed at advanced designers, professionals from the UX/UI field, and design managers from industry, services, and commerce. Career starters, art and design students, as well as interns and trainees in advertising and design agencies are also addressed. As a career profile, OfG mentions UX Designer and UI Designer.
You need a PC or Mac with internet access. Solid knowledge of graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch is required. OfG also expects solid knowledge of graphic design or web design. If you are still unsure about that, the school recommends taking the online Graphic Design course beforehand.
Upon completion, you receive the certificate "Certified UX/UI Designer (OfG)". On request, OfG issues it free of charge as an English-language OfG Certificate. The distance learning course is state-approved and accredited by the ZFU.
The course is continuously updated with current topics. These include the chapters "Artificial Intelligence in Design", "Prompting Basics", and "The EU AI Act in Creative Everyday Life". You can cancel monthly and take free breaks if needed. After successful completion, you retain access to the learning content.
