About this online course

Basic information

The training "Implementing Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (DCACI)" focuses on Cisco ACI, the software-defined networking solution for data centers. You learn how to deploy and manage Cisco Nexus 9000 switches in ACI mode. For five days, you practice hands-on with the most important ACI features, such as Fabric Discovery and VMM integration.

To start, you learn about the ACI fabric infrastructure: topology, hardware, and the logical constructs of the policy model. Topics such as tenants, basic packet forwarding, endpoint learning, and bridge domain configuration are also included.

Next, it covers external network connections. You look at options for external connectivity and Layer 2 attachment. A separate block covers VMM integration, i.e., the integration of VMware vCenter VDS.

Services across multiple layers are also on the agenda. You learn how to integrate service appliances via the ACI L4-L7 service graph. To conclude the content, you cover out-of-band and in-band management of the fabric.

The training relies on a mix of theory and practice. I find the direct exchange with experienced trainers and other participants particularly valuable for the learning effect.

Target audience includes network designers, network administrators, and network technicians, as well as systems engineers, data center engineers, and technical solution architects. Also Cisco integrators, field engineers, server and storage administrators, and network managers fit in. You should bring knowledge of network protocols, routing and switching, as well as basics of virtualization.

After the training, you receive a certificate of attendance and additionally a digital open badge as proof of competency. The seminar runs in cooperation with the Cisco Learning Partner Fast Lane Institute for Knowledge Transfer GmbH. It is bookable as in-person in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt am Main or as a virtual classroom.
