AI for Tax Consultants: What These Courses Really Deliver
I've looked at the courses on this page individually. They all revolve around AI in the tax firm, but they address very different people. A short webinar for 129 euros net is different from a certificate program for 1,500 euros net. So that you don't book the wrong one, I'm sorting out the questions that really matter before booking. Honestly, the right choice depends less on the price than on the goal.Where to start if AI is new to you
Please don't start with the big certificate course. My recommendation is a short live seminar of two to four hours. Several courses here last exactly that long and cost under 350 euros net. You'll see there how a language model responds and where it happily tells nonsense. After that, you'll know whether you want to dive deeper at all. I consider this intermediate step to be the most honest test. A morning costs you less than a bad purchase over several weeks.Free or paid: what the courses cost
Currently, there is no free course on this page. There's a reason for that. Topics like confidentiality, liability, and professional law rarely appear in a free webinar. General ChatGPT basics you can find all over the internet, for the firm-specific context you pay. From my experience, the free videos are good for the first contact. As soon as it comes to client data, the fun stops there. The range is from approx. 129 euros net to 1,500 euros net. At the bottom are the short webinars, at the top the certificate program with exam. In between you'll find two-day seminars and multi-week seminar series. The prices are usually per person. Pay attention to the indication net or gross. Some providers only name one of the two values, and the difference is noticeable. I find the prices reasonable as long as the course shows real firm cases. How much time you need to plan
The shortest course here lasts two and a half hours. The longest stretches over seven weekly online sessions. In between are half-day formats, two-day seminars, and a program over two and a half days. My assessment: The hours in the calendar are rarely the problem. For real routine in prompting, you need a series with exercises in between. Practicing after the course is what matters, not the course length.Live seminar, recording, or in-person
Nine out of ten courses here run live online. The providers use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Edudip. Two providers also sell the same content as a recording. One seminar takes place in person in Stuttgart, spread over two days. I would book live if you bring your own cases. With a recording, you can't ask anyone why your prompt is currently spouting nonsense. The recording is still good if no date fits your calendar.Do you really need a certificate?
That depends on who is supposed to see the proof. For yourself, a certificate of participation is completely sufficient. Three courses here include it automatically. If you want to present the proof externally, a program with an exam has a stronger effect. Four offers here end with a certificate, two of them after an exam. In my opinion, the effort is only worth it with a concrete plan behind it.Confidentiality: the part you don't skip
Typing client data into an open chat window is a pretty bad idea. Most courses here therefore address data protection, confidentiality, and liability. Two courses explicitly mention the EU AI Regulation in the program. I wouldn't book any offer that omits this block. You learn how to operate a chatbot in an hour. Not the legally compliant use of it.AI Accounting: where the real time savings lie
When it comes to AI accounting, it's less about nice chat responses. It's about processing invoices, data management, and fewer errors. One course here is dedicated to exactly this area and comprises 16 teaching units. There you'll see how generative and analytical AI work together. I consider this area to be the one with the greatest impact on day-to-day business. Time savings occur with the tasks that look the same every month.ChatGPT in the firm: what you need beforehand
Two courses require your own access. For one provider's intensive module, you need your own ChatGPT account. Another provider recommends the paid version for about 20 euros per month. Factor that in, otherwise you'll be sitting in the seminar and just watching. I hate to say it: During exercises, the free version rarely keeps up. Also check beforehand whether your firm even allows access.Funding, Bildungsurlaub, and the conversation with the boss
For most courses, there is no information about funding on the page. Two offers here provide specific details, one of which mentions Bildungsurlaub. If in doubt, ask the provider directly. In many firms, the employer pays anyway. My tip for that conversation: Mention a task that costs you hours every week. That convinces much better than the word "digitalization."Who it's worth it for and who it's not
The courses address firm owners, professionals, and teams in accounting. One offer requires a membership in an association, you'd better check that beforehand. In my opinion, teams benefit more than solo practitioners. If you book in pairs, at least someone will talk to you about the results afterwards. If you already use AI daily, skip the beginner seminars. Then the course for advanced users with their own assistants and automation is more suitable. My four questions before booking
Before you click "Register," clarify a few points. Otherwise, you'll end up in the wrong course and get annoyed.- Do you want an overview or a proof with an exam?
- Are data protection and confidentiality explicitly covered?
- Do you practice yourself, or do you watch someone click?
- Is the stated price net or gross?
