The one-day seminar gives you a structured introduction to artificial intelligence in the public sector. The focus is on administrative processes, legal frameworks, data protection, and AI compliance. You learn to realistically assess typical use cases. The question of how administrations identify suitable use cases and introduce them responsibly is also addressed.
At the beginning, the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and the distinction from rule-based systems are covered. Generative AI is classified as a tool for text, research, summarization, and knowledge work. Practical examples show AI-supported processes in administrative workflows. You evaluate use cases based on benefit, effort, risk, and administrative relevance. The classification applies to municipal administration, state authorities, federal administration, and public institutions.
The legal part covers the EU AI Act and its significance for authorities. In addition, the data protection requirements according to the EU GDPR and the limits of permissible AI use in the public sector are addressed. Risks from data protection violations, bias, erroneous results, and lack of traceability are discussed. You receive criteria for checking transparency, controllability, and professional plausibility.
The day follows a fixed schedule. The morning is dedicated to AI basics, potentials, and fields of application. At midday, the focus is on legal frameworks and AI compliance. The afternoon revolves around implementation, live demonstrations of selected AI tools, and the code of conduct. Instruction takes place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in groups of a maximum of 8 participants.
In the best-practice workshop, you develop practical guidelines for an AI code of conduct. These guidelines can serve as a basis for internal rules, usage instructions, or an official directive on AI use. Also discussed are goal definition, stakeholders, interfaces, and approval processes. Top-down and bottom-up approaches are compared as implementation concepts.
The target audience includes employees in the public sector as well as specialists and managers. Office heads and department heads who plan, evaluate, or approve AI projects are also addressed. You do not need programming skills. A basic understanding of administrative processes will help you get started.
Participation includes training materials, a certificate, catering for in-person events, and support from trainers and the organization team. The continuing education also serves the documentation obligation under Art. 4 of the AI Act for building AI competence. The provider works without advance payment; the invoice is issued only after the course starts. There is also a satisfaction guarantee with free repetition.
