Technical documentation in many companies struggles with high manual maintenance effort, heterogeneous data sources, increasing product complexity, and lack of up-to-dateness. At the same time, regulatory requirements are growing, while valuable experiential knowledge from development, assembly, service, and commissioning is often not systematically secured. The seminar shows you what realistic potential AI offers in technical documentation and where its limits lie. You will also learn what prerequisites must be met for successful use in the company.
The first day covers the basics. You learn the difference between generative AI, knowledge AI, and process AI, and find out why ChatGPT alone is not a corporate solution. In addition, data protection, IP protection, and governance as well as typical mistakes in AI pilot projects are covered. Then you learn about AI frameworks and architecture models, along with the connection of ERP, PLM, and PDM systems. Also covered are the integration of unstructured content such as PDFs and drawings, as well as versioning, release processes, and multilingualism. Practical use cases and a live demo round off the day.
On the second day, you work on your own case studies and identify use cases for your company. Topics include automatic documentation directly during assembly and service, as well as AI glasses and augmented reality for hands-free documentation. This includes integration into existing IT landscapes such as ERP, PLM, DMS, and service portals. This is supplemented by governance, law, and responsibility: the human-in-the-loop principle, release processes, and the classification of the AI Act and Machinery Regulation.
At the end, you develop a roadmap for introducing AI-supported documentation in your company. This includes quick wins, a pilot project with clear KPIs, and scaling to additional document types. You take away a use case canvas, an architecture blueprint, an implementation checklist, and a decision basis for management.
The seminar combines compact technical impulses with practical demonstrations, concrete application examples, and interactive work phases. You develop initial use cases for your company and exchange ideas with the group. This allows you to realistically assess the possibilities of AI in technical documentation.
