About this online course

Basic information

The online course "Nonviolent Communication in the Workplace" guides you through Marshall Rosenberg's communication model in five modules. The provider describes it as a simple but highly effective model. You should be able to apply it immediately in your daily work. The subtitle of the course is "New Paths to Clarity and Cooperation".

The first module is about needs as motivation for human behavior. You dive into the Rosenberg model and learn about the structure, attitude, and values of NVC. This includes the House of NVC, the three pillars, and the four steps. The second module focuses on communication disorders, obstructive language patterns, Thomas Gordon's communication barriers, and the iceberg model.

The third module focuses on empathy. You distinguish feelings from accusations and thoughts and practice dealing with difficult messages. The fourth module is about the factual level: value-free observation, the three levels of perception, and clear requests. This includes safe delegation. The fifth module covers difficult conversations, feedback rules, and the principle of appreciative honesty.

The provider focuses on intensive and sustainable learning over a longer period. The live online sessions run via Zoom in a fixed group. In the week in between, you get an assignment for self-practice. After the course ends, you can continue in an online practice group.

Active participation is expressly desired. There are many practical exercises, and according to the provider, they work best when you work with your own topics. The focus is on practical transfer to everyday life.

The offer is aimed at team leaders and employees who are looking for effective communication tools or who wish for a harmonious working environment. A degree or certificate is not mentioned on the course page. The seminar is also available as in-house training on-site at the company or online. Upon request, it can be offered in a different time frame or with your own content focus.
