About this online course

Basic information

The Institute for Educational Coaching offers the continuing education program to become a Coach for Personnel Development as a four-day format. You choose between in-person seminars and e-learning with live trainers. The first part covers personnel requirements planning and personnel marketing. You learn how to justify personnel needs and formulate job postings precisely. In doing so, you comply with the provisions of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).

The second section deals with application management. You evaluate application documents based on CVs and qualifications and practice reading employment references correctly. For job interviews, you receive techniques for conducting interviews. You also get to know assessment center methods such as the in-basket exercise and role plays.

The third part focuses on contract negotiations: salary, working hours and vacation entitlements within collective bargaining or company guidelines. You deal with negotiation strategies and learn about different salary models, from step salaries to open and hidden salary portfolios. Successful onboarding and the probationary period are also part of this topic block.

The last part is dedicated to personnel development itself. You practice conducting motivating feedback sessions and deal with career counseling as well as internal and external continuing education management. An excursion covers personnel organization: time tracking, deployment planning, vacation planning, absence management and salary policy.

Methodologically, the institute relies on practical demonstrations, impulse lectures and small group work. You practice in partner exercises and role plays and exchange ideas with other participants in moderated discussions. You apply the tools directly to your own practical cases. In the e-learning format, it works the same way, just digital: the trainers are connected live and use breakout rooms for role plays and small group work.

The target group includes HR managers, executives, HR officers and HR clerks. Career starters in HR, team leaders, daycare and school directors as well as external consultants are also part of the target audience. There are no formal prerequisites; the seminar is open to all interested parties.

At the end, you receive a certificate from the Institute for Educational Coaching, provided you have participated fully and actively. The group size averages 13 to 16 people, with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 22. I find the seminar times fairly designed. On the first three days, it runs until 5 p.m., on the last day you are done by 3 p.m.
