The certificate course "Betrieblicher Datenschutzbeauftragter (IHK)" qualifies you for data protection according to the Federal Data Protection Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation in your company. At the end, you will independently recognize relevant data protection issues and IT security questions and find suitable solutions. You will directly transfer a case study to operational practice.
In terms of content, you start with the basics of data protection. These include personal data, protective rights, the role of the company data protection officer, and the supervisory authorities. In the Data Protection Law module, it covers the EU GDPR and BDSG, the legal situation for data subjects, consequences of data protection violations, as well as the processing register and data protection impact assessment.
After that, you learn how to organize data protection in the company: data protection inspections, your own data protection concept, processing recording, and cooperation with supervisory authorities. The IT Security module covers interfaces to IT, basic IT components, authentication and encryption, cloud computing, new forms of work, and data protection management systems.
The course takes place completely live online, via the didaris learning platform of your cooperation partner. I find the rule fair. You should attend at least 80 percent of the sessions live, and you can catch up on up to 30 percent as a recording. The course is not intended as a pure self-study product. The written final exam also takes place online, you only need a browser and a smartphone for identification.
The continuing education is aimed across industries at employees in small, medium, and large companies. It is primarily directed at future or already appointed company and external data protection officers. These include specialists and managers, works councils, and employees from business and non-profit organizations. You do not need any prior knowledge for admission to the certificate test.
If you pass the test and fulfill the attendance requirement, you will hold the IHK certificate "Betrieblicher Datenschutzbeauftragter (IHK)" in your hands. In addition, there is a digital Open Badge for your profile. The number of participants is deliberately limited so that questions and discussions have room in the course. As an annual refresher, the IHK Center for Continuing Education also offers an update seminar on the GDPR.
