The video seminar "DSGVO Seminar" explains in nine chapters what has changed with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Whether you are founding a start-up, working freelance, or leading a team, data protection affects you. Digitalization, cross-border cloud services, and social media tools make data protection an important fundamental right.
The two instructors Sebastian Herting and David Oberbeck are lawyers and certified data protection officers (TÜV). They show you step by step how to appoint a data protection officer and create the mandatory documentation. You learn when personal data may be processed and what to look out for with external service providers and cloud IT. Data subject rights, information security, data protection impact assessment, and ongoing data protection management are also covered.
The course runs entirely as video; you watch the nine chapters whenever and wherever you want. In total, you get around 110 minutes of runtime, ideal for a lunch break or after work. You can test a free lesson in advance before you decide.
The seminar is suitable for start-up founders, freelancers, and team leaders who do not yet have a deep insight into data protection law. I find it particularly practical for small teams that cannot afford their own data protection lawyer. The page does not list any specific admission requirements.
The course does not promise an official certificate, but it offers practical value you can take away. As a supplement, you can download the 41-page e-book "DSGVO, Ihr Fahrplan für die praktische Umsetzung" for free. In it you will find templates and further links for practice. The course is part of the ZEIT Akademie subscription, which also gives you access to over 80 additional video courses.
