The continuing education "IT-Administrator & Systemadministrator Weiterbildung" at IHQ Akademie lasts a total of 12 months. In the first 10 months, you attend live online classes from Monday to Friday, each from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You learn together with 12 to 20 other participants. After that, there are 2 months of internship in an IT company, which the academy helps you find.
You start with the basics of computer technology and hardware. Then you work your way through networks (TCP/IP, routing, switching) to Windows Server Administration with Active Directory. Linux server administration with Samba and shell scripting is also included. Another module covers IT security and data protection, such as firewalls, encryption, and the requirements of GDPR and BDSG. Cloud services and virtualization with AWS, Azure, VMware, and Docker, as well as IT service and project management according to ITIL, round out the content.
The continuing education is aimed at career changers without IT knowledge and at job seekers with a Bildungsgutschein (education voucher). Also welcome are career returners, refugees with language level B1 or above, and academics making a career change. German language skills at level B1 or above and basic computer use are required; you do not need IT knowledge.
At the end of the continuing education, you receive the IHQ provider certificate and an AZAV certificate. Additionally, you prepare specifically for the Cisco CCNA and Microsoft Azure AZ-900 exams. You can also prepare for CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, LPIC-1, or AWS Cloud Practitioner. The exam fees for these manufacturer certifications are covered by the academy from the course price.
For the lessons, you will be provided with a laptop, mouse, and headset on loan if needed; you only need an internet connection. The continuing education is AZAV-certified (Reg. No. EPZ-25-15-T) and runs nationwide, so you can participate regardless of your place of residence. IHQ Akademie currently does not offer a part-time evening or weekend model; the classes take place full-time.
